[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] Mobility parts manufacturer DONGYANG PISTON(092780)announced on the 27th that it has secured an order for core components to be used in HyundaiMotor’s next-generation hydrogen fuel cell system, marking an expansion of its eco-friendly vehicle parts business.

DYP has been selected as the final supplier for two types of end plates, which are installed on the reaction gas side and the coolant side of the fuel cell system, respectively. These components are scheduled to be used in HyundaiMotor’s next-generation 100kW-class hydrogen fuel cell system for passenger vehicles. DYP explained that it is currently supplying these components for HyundaiMotor’s mass-produced hydrogen electric vehicle, the “Nexo,” and is also pursuing a supply agreement for the KIA CORPORATION Carnival, KIA CORPORATION’s first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCEV), scheduled for release in 2029.
End plates are structural components mounted at both ends of a fuel cell stack, which generates electricity through the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen. They support and secure hundreds of cells under uniform pressure, playing a role in maintaining the stack’s internal airtightness and structural stability. Consequently, they must simultaneously meet high standards for rigidity, precision, and insulation performance.
The total supply volume for this contract is 97,412 units over a six-year period from 2029 to 2034, averaging approximately 16,200 units per year. However, the actual supply period and volume may vary depending on the customer’s development and mass production plans.
DYP stated that this is significant as it marks the company’s participation in HyundaiMotor Group’s next-generation hydrogen mobility strategy. Building on its existing experience in mass-producing hydrogen vehicle components and its track record of supplying heat dissipation modules for electric vehicles, DYP has expanded its business scope to include core hydrogen fuel cell components. As HyundaiMotor Group expands the application of next-generation hydrogen fuel cell technology from passenger cars to various mobility solutions, DYP plans to use this supply agreement as an opportunity to strengthen its position in the future hydrogen mobility market.
Building on its existing experience in the mass production of hydrogen fuel cell components, DYP has secured manufacturing capabilities such as hybrid injection molding and precision fusion bonding technologies that combine metal and high-performance plastics. A DYP official stated, “Through this order, DYP—a global specialist in pistons—has extended its mass production experience with hydrogen vehicle components to next-generation fuel cell systems, once again demonstrating its core competitiveness that spans both internal combustion engine and eco-friendly vehicle components.” The official added, “We plan to thoroughly prepare a stable mass production supply system aligned with our client’s development schedule to solidify our position in the future mobility components market.”
